I am sooo screwed
by Yondaime inso last night i was talking to my sister about how i admired president obama's speech to the u.n that happened earlier that day.. i then compared the extremism of isis to how much of a fanatic my jw bil is.. at the end of the statement , my mom walked in to the kitchen.
she was standing in the living room and she heard everything i said.. she called the elders that night to tell them what i said so they can counsel me.. i'm going to meet with them after the meeting on sunday!.
what do i do?!!!!!.

So Berengaria we are awake now - let us know your proposed itinerary so we can critique it, I mean so we can workshop it to make it perfect. You have lots of good advice here on where to visit with a heavy focus on natural scenery and beautiful architecture.

Eating disorders - advice about someone
by 88JM ini'm sure there are probably a few posters on here that have had experience themselves or had family members with eating disorders.
i'm posting here not for myself, but out of concern for someone else.. there is a teenage (about 16, recently baptized) brother who quite obviously has an eating disorder.
i have personally been at a few gatherings and seen him refuse all food while everyone else was eating, with the excuse that "he wasn't hungry", so i can say it's definitely an eating disorder and not some allergy or just a one-off.. i'm also not the only one who has noticed it - i've been in discussions with a few brothers and sisters who have also remarked on his conditon, but don't seem to know any more about it than i do.

it is a psychological condition. He needs counselling - fast. Being a member of the cult and being home schooled and possibly problems at home could all contribute. He may also need medical help. It is potetnially life threatening or could have long-term medical issues if he stops getting sufficient nutrients for his physical and neurological development. You need to get his family to intervene but it needs to be handled delicately. Getting someone who has an eating disorder to accept that is the case and that they need help can be very challenging. The family probably needs to contact a psychologist with expereince with eating disorders before confronting him to advise on how best to get him to recognise he needs help.

i wrote my letter and they heard my case.
they were very helpful.

I always feel sad when reading threads like this - people like StartingOver13 so desperate to get back into the good graces of the organisation that has abused them so badly, having to suffer miserably while waiting. This just shows how effective the mind control and shunning system is. My wife was the same while waiting to be reinstated - so stressed and miserable and then when it happened she was so happy until the reality of "never being good enough" set in and she became miserable again. The people who devised and maintain this system are total b@st@rds.

qcf - yes Slough tops my list too - but seriously I would recommend Connemara in the West Coast of Ireland, the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland, the Gow Peninsula in South West Wales, Monmouthshire in South Wales, Snowdonia in Noth Wales; The Lakes District and Cornwall in England; Edinburgh, the Highlands (Glencoe and B en Nevis) and the West Coast and Hebrides Islands in Scotland...

Divorcing my husband of 13 years...
by 2pink inmy husband and i were both born ins.
i left in 2009, and he followed me out a bit later.
we were one of those couples who followed the script, married young and ended up having nothing in common other than the religion.

hi 2pink - good for you in getting an attorney. Don't worry about the ignorant judgemental advice about your kids and your marriage - this is par for the course here at JWN, particularly from those like Gustv Cintrn, who are still controlled by cult thinking. Good luck, Fraz

What was your degree in? What family and other support do you have access to to help you care for your kids? Are there government run centres who can look after your kids for you for part of the day? Do you need to upgrade your skills? Do you have IT or design or other sorts of skills that lend themselves to home based work? On the other hand you might want to work in an office environment at least part of the week to give you some social interaction? tactically though you might want to remain as a stay at home Mum at least until the divroce settlement is finalised (as that will increase your prospects of a generous payout) and spend the time studying for your future career. I would suggest you ignore the conservative "keep the marriage together at any cost" types - you don't need to explain yourself.

Witnesses are like a "typical male"... Always trying to "fix" things or "solve" everything.
by stuckinarut2 inwe all know the cliche that "men never really listen or sympathise, they just try to solve or fix things"?.
often people just need to vent or discuss issues..."get them off their chest".
i have noticed that jws are just like a thoughtless cliched man..... when speaking with people in the community, they don't really listen, they just look for a way to solve the issue!.

Interesting observation but not that surprising considering the patriarchial nature of the organisation from inception to now. The ironic aspect of this though is that the congregation is so heavily female.

BORG running low on $$$??
by fader77 indear brothers:.
re: personal literature supply.
reducing existing stock at the branch office before the revisions are released.

This just reflects the change in the business model - previously they made money from the literature so the more the better - now they make money from the subscriptions from members and the literature is promotional material to gain and retain members but has been superseded to some extent by JW.org so less is more.

Too harsh smiddy - and unfair - this forum is a good choice to get advice with this issue as he is unlikely to have acquaintances who have relevant expereince with the issue. As long as he realises that as with any advice on this forum you have to weed the good advice from the rubbish.
